The Florida Aquarium enables you to get close to many of Florida’s aquatic and terrestrial animals and ecosystems, as well as others from around the world. More than a must-see attraction, The Florida Aquarium is working to protect and restore our blue planet on many conservation fronts, including research and rescue efforts that help restore Florida’s sea turtle and coral populations and to ensure that sharks continue to swim our seas. The Florida Aquarium experience is designed to take you on a journey, starting with a drop of water from one of Florida's many freshwater springs, all the way out to the open waters of the Florida Keys. Sights include a large simulated wetlands environment located under a tall glass atrium, shallow bays and beaches, and a coral reef ecosystem encompassed in half a million gallons of natural seawater. General Admission includes the following: Moon Bay - One of four places in the nation with this unique touch pool experience, Moon Bay allows for a close encounter with a hypnotically graceful ocean creature with surprising survival skills. The Wetlands Trail - The Wetlands Trail mimics the Florida’s unique environment and includes alligators, river otters, and even the invasive Burmese python. There is also a large aviary that allows birds to explore in a safe environment. Visitors journey through a mangrove forest to see it teeming with local fish. Witness feedings of the intriguing Pink Spoonbill or other animals and learn more about the wildlife during scheduled presentations at the Ranger Station. Journey to Madagascar - A unique exhibit featuring ring-tailed lemurs, chameleons, hissing cockroaches, and marine life found in the Indian Ocean. Bays to Beaches and No Bone Zone – See a 300-pound Goliath grouper and Spiny lobsters. Even touch our gentle aquatic creatures at Stingray Beach or bizarre creatures that have no backbone such as anemones and sea stars. Coral Cave and Reef – In our coral tunnel, see intriguing Sea Dragons and Sea Horses. The Florida Aquarium journey culminates at the 500,000-gallon habitat that features sharks, rays, sea turtles, reef fish, and moray eels! Waves of Wonder – This gallery focuses on the aquarium’s conservation efforts and the highlight is the second largest habitat, Heart of the Sea. See staghorn coral trees, Bonnethead Sharks, Loggerhead Turtle, Tarpon, Southern Stingrays, Spotted Eagle Rays, plus a variety of reef fish! 4-D Theater - See a 15 minute 3-D movie with cool sensory effects. The Splash Pad – Bring swim suits for the kids who are invited to play in in the outdoor plaza (weather permitting) at the rain-forest themed water feature with dump buckets and waterworks, plus net climbs, slides and more. Additional fun activities may be available (for an extra fee) such as Wild Dolphin Cruise, Behind the Scenes Tour, and Penguin Backstage pass. Inquire directly with The Florida Aquarium. The Florida Aquarium, located in downtown Tampa, FL, is a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit attraction devoted to entertaining, educating, and inspiring visitors to be advocates for marine life conservation.
